Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring that the quality of the product meets the required specification before moving to the next part of the process or being released to the customer. As Environmental Health and Safety Manager, you are responsible for all HS&E aspects of the business including the EHS culture, objectives, policies, procedures and monitoring systems. Multi Skilled Heat Treatment / Furnace Operator Blaenavon 37 Hours per Week – 3 Shifts

We are currently recruiting a multi skilled Heat Treatment / Furnace Operator to join the team at Blaenavon Forgings. The role will provide support to both the Heat Treatment department and the Forge areas in line with Business requirements. The successful candidate will require a flexible approach as the role will involve cover for holidays/absence/Business demand.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
Heat Treatment
• To build and run furnace loads to the in adherence to quality procedures.
• Load and unload product in and out of the furnace and between heat treatment operations through the use of a fork lift truck, pedestrian truck and/ or overhead crane.
• Attach thermocouples to product as per the quality procedure.
• Monitor cycles on all furnaces and raising appropriate standard report forms if deviation to cycle specification occurs.
• Cutting test samples on a band saw in line with lab requirements for mechanical and metallurgical tests.
• Brinell hardness testing and recording in line with specification requirements to ensure product quality.
• Be actively involved in any process improvement or quality investigation with regard to heat treatment practices or non-conforming product.
Furnaces
• Lighting and setting up of required furnaces to the required temperature as per Forging plans (also required to amend furnaces during ramp up or down periods).
• Reviewing methods with furnace plans.
• Loading furnaces at the required intervals as per M.O.M and carrying out periodical checks of online furnace charts in 30-60 min intervals.
• Warming in tools.
• Control of test bars and test pieces co-ordinating between Forge Plant, Heat Treatment and Despatch.
• Control of Furnace charts, loading/unloading and storage for quality purposes.
• Carrying out weekly checks on furnaces for overtemp alarms and daily furnace condition (reporting back to Maintenance any repairs required)
• Record and monitor furnace utilisation

 Ensure that the calibration of Field Test instruments are maintained with third party providers.
 Ensure all paperwork in relation to the department is correctly compiled including breakdown reporting.

Main Purpose of Job:
The FS Group Mechanical PPM Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support to achieve KPI target levels of plant availability and performance at our River Don site. The key responsibilities of this role are to actively take part in PPM, TPM, Continuous Improvement (CI) Initiatives. Other key tasks of the role include completing general engineering tasks & corrective repairs. Be involved in contractor liaison to gain quotes & spares, work with on specific contracted tasks. Carry out cost effective maintenance routines and general repairs to prolong the useful life of the equipment. All these tasks are to be carried out and completed within a specified time frame and to the highest Engineering Standards, thus minimising any operational disruptions whilst maximising uptime of operational equipment.
